Dean of the imperial cities, Fez was founded in 789 AD by Idris I, a descendant of the Prophet, his son, Sultan Idriss II, decided in 809 to establish the seat of the dynasty, from 818, the Sultan in his home cited 8000 Andalusian Muslim families, seven years later, this new population is strengthened by the arrival of Jews and Kairouan (Tunisia), many of these rich religious heritage, cultural and architectural, Fez quickly became the religious and cultural center Morocco.
Fez is an ancient city that takes us into a world of magic through its history, thanks to its many mosques, madrasahs, fondouks, fountains and ablution facilities, historic gardens and ramparts, fortified gates, Mellah and synagogues, factories , mausoleums, palaces and Riad, squares and souks, but whatever Idrissid the Alawites, Andalusian Jews, all the dynasties and all peoples have left their mark on the city. The medina (old town), is also the model example of an eastern city. It is placed under the protection of UNESCO and has remained unchanged since the twelfth century. The particular blue ceramic is one of its characteristic symbols of Fez.
